我們的生活充斥著情緒,不管是對他人、或是對自己。有的時候我們很討厭情緒,總認為情緒會壞事;有時卻也因為一個人直接表達情緒,而覺得他很真。情緒之所以讓我們捉摸不定,正是因為不知道該拿它怎麼辦──情緒性的用語很激烈,讓我們誤解對方、或被誤解;情緒強烈也讓對方知道「我很在乎」,但這樣的知道,是否都要伴隨著受傷?

其實我們需要的不是「壓抑」或「管理」情緒,而是真正的「理解」它──為什麼我這麼生氣、為什麼他這麼難過、為什麼你這麼激動……我們應該看到情緒背後的真相,了解情緒無關好壞,而是具體顯現了一個人的「在乎」,同時思考「情緒的來源」。了解對方/自己看重什麼,是什麼產生了落差而有情緒。

我們都希望情緒別擋在我們之間;也希望不要因為情緒,而疏遠彼此。
